What a great bunch of volunteers we had today and an awesome effort to fill the roster for the next few weeks! Huge round of applause to everyone who put their names down, Wagga parkrun is going from strength to strength and it's wonderful to see the community getting behind it. There was a great vibe today, even in the wind and drizzle! 💪 There are a few blank spots left so there's still a chance to volunteer, just message or email us! To anyone thinking about putting your name down, the roles are easy and we explain what to do before we start, plus there'll always be a Run Director around to help answer any questions, or visit our website and click the name of the volunteer role and you can read about what's involved. Again, great effort everyone and thank you! 👏👏👏

What a great day for a run (or walk)! With the temperature a bit more bearable than some previous weeks and a cooling breeze coming across the lake, it was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic people getting out and getting active! Thanks to Rebecca Baker and her team of volunteers. We look forward to seeing you next week (with a friend or three)!

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT Please take a moment to read the below from our parkrun Event Ambassador. Hello awesome Wagga parkrunners, Wagga parkrun has now been operating for 18 weeks, and certainly would not have been possible without you! 79 parkrunners have already put their hand up to volunteer. Something that is clearly lots of fun (just check out the photo below). It is time, however, to acknowledge a couple of “SUPER-volunteers”!! Bec Baker & Alex Walker have not only completed all the work necessary to bring parkrun to Wagga, but they have volunteered an amazing 14 (Bec) and 10 (Alex) times!! What’s also interesting, is that they have only run 3 times at Wagga between them. What an amazing gift they are bringing to Wagga each and every week. If you have appreciated parkrun coming to Wagga, I encourage you to let them know…..comment below, or have a quiet word to them on parkrunday so they know they are appreciated. To the other 77 volunteers who have made parkrun possible……….take a bow. You too are awesome. High-5’s to you for giving up your parkrun, to make it happen for others. 👋🏻 This is what parkrun is all about – community supporting each other and having fun getting together. To this end, I’d like to encourage you all to volunteer at Wagga parkrun. Volunteering is amazingly rewarding. I have often had more fun, and more satisfaction from volunteering at my event, than I have from running. Something I didn’t think was possible until I tentatively put my hand up and offered to help out. 😊👍🏻 Volunteering is easy, fun, and a great way to give back to the event that allows you to enjoy a FREE run in the park each week. Training is provided on the day, and only takes 5 minutes because it’s so simple. Your Event Director will fill you in on any tips and tricks, and will be right there to support you. If it all goes wrong, guess what???? parkrun will organise a refund to every Wagga parkrunner, and invite them to attend every parkrun around the world for free. 😉 We encourage all parkrunners to volunteer 3 times a year, so that you too can enjoy the benefits and the satisfaction of volunteering. This week is CHALLENGE WEEK. Your Co-Event Director, Bec, is going to challenge you to completely fill the volunteer roster for the January and February parkrundays. That is less than 30 spaces to fill, so get in quick. You might notice that Bec is also pregnant, so take pity on her…….go to her, rather than make her waddle to you. 🤣 I know Bec would be thrilled to know that chasing volunteers to fill the roster is one less thing she needs to worry about at this busy time for her. I look forward to seeing the results of challenge week, and to visiting Wagga to run with you all soon. Again thanks for all you do to make Wagga parkrun an amazing community event. Oh and for those of you who are a little camera shy that's fine too, remember if you don't want your photo taken indicate to the photographer by crossing your arms over your chest or face. :)

The run report is in! Yesterday at Wagga parkrun 104 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 27 were first timers and 16 recorded new Personal Bests! Representatives of 7 different clubs took part including Wagga Wagga Road Runners and Running Mum's Australia. Great job to all of those first timers and everyone who smashed their PB's. We're kicking goals already and it's only the first week in January! We hope you're all having a well deserved rest today. :)
