Since 1897 Meriden has produced confident and articulate young women, renowned for making their marks academically and in the global community. Meriden caters for girls from Prep (four years of age) to Year 12.

Meriden has had a record number of Water Polo players selected to the NSW All Schools team which will compete at the School Sport Australia 17 Years/U Water Polo Championships to be held in Noosa in May. The selection to a single team of six players from the one school is unprecedented in school sport. The selection followed spectacular performances by the six Meriden girls, Abbey, Indie, Hayley, Alex, Brooke and Carla, at the NSW All Schools Water Polo tournament where they represented CIS (Combined Independent Schools). The CIS team was undefeated, winning the grand final 17-6.

AUSSIES 2017 - 15s Womens Beach Sprints

After taking out the NSW Beach Sprints title earlier this month, Isabellah Walker has been crowned 2017 National Beach Sprints Champion, 15 years. The event was part of the Australia Surf Life Saving Championships held on 25-26 March at North Kirra Beach, Gold Coast. Isabellah, who is in Year 10 at Meriden, will compete in the Australian Athletics Championship at Sydney Olympic Park this week.

Today, Meriden claimed victory in Tildesley Tennis for the 8th consecutive year. The Meriden team dominated throughout the tournament, securing all available places in the grand finals of both the doubles and singles competitions. Congratulations to the Meriden players, coaches and supporters and well done to the Meriden lines girls! Tildesley Tennis is the oldest sport competition in independent girls’ schools.

We are delighted to welcome Anon and Kanade to Meriden this week. The two Year 11 exchange students are from our sister school in Japan, Hagoromo Gakuen College, Sakai, Osaka. They are experiencing a Meriden education for two weeks while enjoying the hospitality of their Year 11 host families. We hope they enjoy their time at Meriden and in our beautiful city of Sydney.

Outstanding performances by our team at the 2017 IGSSA Swimming and Diving Championships earned Meriden 6th place overall in Diving and 13th place in Swimming. Highlights included Zara Tullipan’s incredible feats in the springboard and platform events which earned her the title of Junior Diving Champion; Carla Traplin who powered through the final of the 17 Years Breastroke to finish in 2nd place; and a stunning performance by Selene Vuong in the 14 Years Butterfly which saw her claim 3rd place.

Inside IU Water Polo: Mollie Williams

Former Meriden student Mollie Williams (Class of 2016) is already making her mark at Indiana University where she took up her studies this year. Mollie represents the University in Water Polo and racked up eight goals in her debut weekend with the renowned Hoosiers. She received an honourable mention in the Water Polo Collegiate Association’s Rookie of the Week awards. Mollie participated in the Olympus program at Meriden and was one of three 2016 graduates to be awarded scholarships to USA universities.

Good Morning Meriden! Welcome to1962 Baltimore, Maryland and say hello to quirky, teenager Tracy Turnblad who has one dream: to dance on The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy is put on detention with the African-American students in the school, they teach her some of their dance moves, and her new found groove wins her a spot on Corny’s show. Overnight, Tracy transforms from a nobody into a star, and uses her newfound influence to advocate for racial integration on the television show. Tony Award-winning Hairspray continues to be one of the most widely produced musicals today.
