We offer classes in sewing, patternmaking and design from beginner right through to advanced level. Our classes are perfect for teenagers and adults alike and we cater to both female and male students looking to learn the basics or develop the skills required to make their own fashion creations come to life!

Gehrich was my fledgling label for a few years but it wasn't until I met Chris that we upped the ante and turned it into a proper small business and something that we could both be really proud of! I am so proud to be able to say that all of our coats are manufactured right here in Melbourne, many now made by yours truly! Nothing is impossible. It starts with one idea and then grows from there. I love creating garments that are both beautiful and functional-timeless pieces which can be worn season after season. To me sewing is about investing in yourself and your creative voice. Its about continuously learning and challenging yourself and enjoying the process of making something unique from scratch. xo

It has been a few weeks between posts - I have been busy sewing coats for Gehrich and getting them in store for Winter so have been off the grid for a short time. But with the change in weather I am back! Eager to kick start the cooler months with a clean out and fresh projects😊. I finally spent two days, two whole days(!!!) going through my over flowing shelf of goodies and have evicted a few piles of pre loved fabrics who are keen to find new homes! 🙌🏻 So I thought why not have a studio open day! This Saturday April 9 from 10am-4pm Makers Workroom will be open for anyone to pop in and say hi and have a look. All this fabric will be available to buy with only one or two pieces for $5, the rest being available for loose change😊👍🏻 most are pre loved so have had a pattern cut from them and there may only be half a metre left, decent bits and pieces which I have no use for but if you make children's or dolls clothes or need a contrast binding or patch pocket/detail or are a student, they'd be perfect! There are linens, wool, cotton, poly linings, lace etc. (please note there will be no holds on fabric.) It is also a good opportunity for those who want to have a look at the studio and have questions about Makers Workroom courses to come and have a chat. I'd love to meet some more local sewing enthusiasts! Makers Workroom: 11 Saffron Place, Point Cook. Open studio: Saturday April 9, 10am-4pm.

Argh, 🙈 I just realised after posting updates on Chris's project leading up to Christmas that I forgot to show you all the final garment. Very proud of him for completing his first ever sewing project and his brother (pictured) loved his handmade present!

Whoot, thread drawers sorted and tidied into one! Always colour match your fabric with thread when you purchase it. There is nothing worse than being super excited to start a project only to pull out your fabric and find you have no thread that matches it. 🙌🏻 Here's to an organised start to 2016!
