Foodbank provides food relief for thousands of WA families in need. Your support helps us fight hunger.  Australia is The Lucky Country, but there are real problems in our own backyard.

Over 2,000,000 Aussies rely on food relief – and half of these are kids.
These children will often go to school without breakfast or to bed without dinner.

The problem stems from people living in poverty, kids in jobless households and the 2.2 million Australians who simply don’t have enough money to take care of basic needs such as housing, clothing and food.
But Foodbank is working to tackle this hunger problem.

Working together with corporate partners, donors, volunteers and welfare agencies, Foodbank is the largest distributer of food and groceries to charity organizations and the people who need it most.

YOU can help. Liking this page is an easy way to get behind Foodbank and show your support for the problem. Encourage your friends and family to do the same too.

Foodbank Australia

Foodbank Australia have taken a leadership role in the development of the Australian Government's first National Food Waste Strategy, aiming to halve Australia's food wastage by 2030. Foodbank Australia CEO, Brianna Casey, said “It is shameful to think that over 9 million tonnes of food is being wasted at a time when more than 644,000 people are receiving food relief every month – a third of whom are children”. “Foodbank is already working with farmers, processors, food manufacturers and retailers to minimise food waste from paddock to plate, but we’re talking about a $20 billion a year problem here, so it is clear that more can be done”. read more... https://www.foodbank.org.au/2017/03/29/foodbank-in-the-drivers-seat-to-tackle-australias-20-billion-food-waste-problem/

KCGM a prominent mining company in the Boulder area have in the past provided smaller donations of $1,000 or $2,000 however this year they have gone above and beyond by donating a whopping $12,000 to Foodbank Kalgoorlie! The staff of KCGM reached a major milestone last year of more than 2 million billable hours without a Lost Time Injury, this allowed the company to provide two donations of $12,000 to charities of the staff choosing. The staff chose to support our Foodbank branch and the PCYC. This wonderful donation will help Sandy and her team source more fresh produce for the branch to better service the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community.

With the Autumn morning chills settling in and many Western Australian’s starting to dig out their winter wardrobes, search for their slippers and stock up on firewood, spare a thought for those in our communities who’s need for assistance can be even more desperate during the colder months. Here at Foodbank we are preparing for one of our busiest times of the year as well as hosting our Hearty Trivia Night on Friday 28th April 2017. Your donation of product/s to be used as prizes or auction items at this event can help us raise much needed funds to purchase canned soups and warm meals for people who would otherwise go without this winter. To participate as a sponsor of the 2017 Hearty Trivia Night or find out more please contact Bec Thomas on 08 9463 3239 or email bec.thomas@foodbankwa.org.au .
