To develop the level of proprioception to be able to manipulate one's weight and find equilibrium using only your hands while in an inverted position is no easy feat. Short cuts are lies, “learn to handstand in 5 minutes” tutorials are bullshit and to be an adult walking this path seems like an almost impossible battle. Good news, it’s very possible for anyone that can move, not so good news, a lot of hard work goes into it, I mean A LOT of hard work. But the reward bag is deep and perhaps the most humbling and worthwhile fitness venture that you can experience. Harry is primarily a self taught arm balancer who studies movement and is currently training under the Ido Portal Method. He has been learning and teaching handstands for 3 years now and has developed a process that is suited for anyone. He has an array of students ranging from a 15 year old student that can now one arm handstand, a 65 year old student women who is nailing consistent 10-20 second freestanding holds and a 72 year old man who has just nailed his first 30 second chest to wall hold with all ages and levels in between. None of these (including Harry) has any background in gymnastics or circus because they have all come to realise that handstands are for everyone and achievable for all with the right mindset and process This workshop will cover, Alignment - hand positioning, mobility drills, the equation of balance and philosophy Catching and exiting the handstand - kicking up and falling down In and out of alignment work - using more than your hands to influence your balance The beginnings of the handstand press and the pushup Harry never runs on the timer and for those who are interested we will be having an unofficially off the clock q&a session post workshop where playing is encouraged and we will cover progressions towards, stalders, full range handstand pushups, 90 degree handstand pushups, the infamous one arm and anything else that may be requested. @holisticmovement

On the 20th Feb we challenged 35 people at Lacey’s on a 30 day sugar detox. Most would agree the first week was the hardest trying to boot the sugar addiction and bad habits. Positive changes were noticed very quickly which motivated the team to persist. Some positive feedback included better sleep, less bloating, less hunger, more energy, yummy meals, radiant skin, more organized. Towards the end of the challenge, people were so happy with the progress and positive changes and admitted they want to continue past the 30days because they felt so amazing. The scans and before/after photos showed outstanding physical results with some individuals losing up to 6.8kg of fat and increasing 900g of lean muscle mass. It became clear to the participants that sugar can have a huge impact on our everyday diet and overconsumption causes a lot of negative symptoms. Not only have these participants worked hard for these amazing results, they now have the right knowledge and tools to implicate a healthy/balanced diet to continue indefinitely.
