ST. GERARD'S STUDENTS TRACE THE HISTORY OF SISTER URSULA FRAYNE - 170 YEARS ON. St. Gerard's students were Pilgrims for a day. The students were embarking on a pilgrimage recently that retraced Sr Frayne’s steps from her arrival in Fremantle in early 1846, to her journey along the Swan River and her first impressions of the fledgling city of Perth. PRE PRIMARY AND THEIR MARINE THEME. This term the theme in Pre-Primary is 'Surf, Sun and Sand'. They are learning all about the ocean and beaches as well as the animals that live in the sea. They even have their own beach in the classroom! Recently, the whole class went on an excursion to AQWA to see these creatures that live in the ocean, in real life. They enjoyed seeing all the different types of fish, turtles, sting rays and even sharks! They were able to touch some of the sea creatures in the touch pool. Some students even got to see the animals being fed by the divers. They were able to meet the AQWA mascot ‘Sharky’ and learnt about dangerous animals in the ocean and animals that are endangered. They had a really fun time and learnt so much!

YEAR 6 STUDENTS CREATE ARCADE GAMES. In year 6 this week the children created Arcade games. They investigated the technology process and were inspired by a boy called Caine. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=faIFNkdq96U On day 1 the children planned and collected the recycled materials needed to create their Arcade games. The children then documented the steps they would take to make their game. On the second day the children constructed their Arcade games and did a digital share board to detail their construction process. After a review and some trial tests, the year 6's had the pre primary's and year 5's in to play their Arcade games. The children showed great team work and cooperation skills, working together to construct their Arcade game. Having our buddy classes in to use the games was very rewarding and great feedback for the year 6 children. The children did a fantastic job creating their Arcade games and great end-of-term fun was had by all.

It's a beautiful sunny day so come down to Bunnings in Balcatta today (Sunday 26th June) and buy a sausage sizzle in support of our fundraiser for the Kindy and Pre Primary much needed upgrades.
