In 2014, he became the first and only Victorian to qualify as the Haidong Gumdo Master instructor. Kevin has been awarded with numerous awards from various national and international competitions. What is Haidong Gumdo?

Haidong Gumdo is a form of contemporary martial arts that draws its essence from ancient Korean battlefields’ sword techniques. This can be traced back to more than 2000 years ago.

Its dynamic, yet elegant, techniques have allowed Haidong Gumdo to be the fastest growing form of martial arts in recent years, with over 1.5 million practitioners across 50 countries. In Korea, Haidong Gumdo is the ‘Harvard’ of martial arts. Participants have status, prestige, respect and honour.

Like many martial arts, Haidong Gumdo has refined over the years and adapted the principles of modern science. It promotes conditioning of physical and mental fitness; increases self-confidence and awareness whilst embracing traditional values such as discipline, loyalty and mutual respect.

In Haidong Gumdo, ‘martial skills’ are learnt and consolidated so all levels of martial arts experience are welcome, from beginners to advanced. As you will develop a greater awareness of your physical abilities, a certain level of physical fitness is not required to begin.
