The Parenting Psychologist specialises in the counselling and support of individuals during the parenting years   I help adults and children through 'the parenting years', from the pregnancy of a first child to personal and parenting difficulties impacting a happy family life.

I help mums, dad’s and children personally understand and overcome a broad range of problems including stress, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, divorce and childhood behavioural problems. Consultations take place in a private home setting, away from the main streets, overlooking the ocean from Maroubra in Sydney’s east.

Here are some of the concerns clients come to me with:

- Individuals with issues impacting their family

You may want help with anger management, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, substance abuse or grief. You may want to receive guidance and learn skills to manage your difficulties and their impact on your partner and/or children.

- Children seeking assistance

Your child may need help working through issues pertaining to stress, bullying, anxiety, depression, grief among others.

- Parents wanting to manage a child’s behavioural problems

You may need guidance and to learn skills pertaining to managing your child’s difficult behaviours such as defiance, aggression, clinginess, tantrums and/or crying.

- Women transitioning into motherhood

You want help managing the adjustment, stress and anxieties that come with being a new mum, post-natal depression or managing your expectations of pregnancy, among other issues.

- Men transitioning into fatherhood

You may want help working through the many changes brought about by fatherhood such as changes in nature of your relationship, duties and responsibilities, time to yourself, finance and/or sleep. Or you may want help managing anxieties or change in mood related to work, relationships, family demands and/or financial pressures among other issues.

- Individuals facing relationship problems, separation or divorce

You may want help working through issues in your relationship with your partner or issues arising from a separation or divorce.

PERSONAL QUALITIES FOR CHANGE

People who make lasting change in their lives possess the following qualities:

They have a powerful reason to change – you want to improve your or someone in your family’s feelings, behaviours, circumstances, relationship or coping mechanisms.

They're open to learning new approaches – these new skills will help you to improve feelings, behaviours, circumstances, relationship or coping mechanisms.

They're committed to taking action – change comes about when one learns new skills and implements them in their current circumstances.
