Several people washed off rocks at Crescent Head on NSW Mid North Coast

#NOMOREDROWNINGS A CLOSE CALL Today 14 people including some children had a very lucky escape at #CrescentHead when a freak wave washed them off a rock platform. All 14 people managed to be rescued but sustained a range of injuries. As a water lovers we love to see the public out enjoying the ocean and sunshine, but implore people to pick safe locations for swimming. That means patrolled beaches in between the red and yellow flags - even calm looking rock platforms can become dangerous in the blink of an eye. This season has seen 18 drowning deaths since the 18th of December. Today we came perilously close to doubling that number in a single afternoon. Please stay safe and check conditions before heading to the coast. #LifesaverHelo #CloseCall #NoMoreDrownings

#SEARCH Today Sydney's #Lifesaver21 continues in the search for a missing 14 year old boy at South Maroubra Beach. Reports suggest the boy and his cousin got into difficulty last night after Surf Life Saving NSW patrols had ceased for the day. This is a tragic and timely reminder of the dangers of swimming outside of patrol hours when there are no life saving services available. Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter beach patrols are currently reporting extremely high visitor numbers to Sydney and NSW beaches. Please exercise caution whilst enjoying our coastline and waterways: - Swim between the flags at patrolled beaches - Wear a life jacket when boating or rock fishing - Know your swimming ability - Check depth and look for submerged objects in rivers - Check pool fences and pool security #LifesaverHelo #NoMoreDrownings
