A big thanks to all the players who came out to our 3rd Smash 4 Tournament over the weekend. We had 23 Teams for Doubles and 54 Players for Singles. RESULTS Doubles: 1st - MISH MASH RECOGNIZE (Duon + Extra) 2nd - Olympic Games (Ignis + Swithi) 3rd - Dair to B Different (Jei + Deez) Doubles Bracket - http://over9k.challonge.com/over9koctoberdoubles Singles: 1st - Duon 2nd - Revax 3rd - Snugs Singles Bracket - http://over9k.challonge.com/over9ksmash4singlesoctober Congratulations to Duon for placing first in both events. In the Doubles Tournament, he made a clean sweep with team mate 'Extra' without dropping a single set the whole way through. And in the Singles Tournament, despite being knocked into the Loser's Bracket, brought it all the way back to take out the top spot in the last stock of the last game after resetting the bracket against Revax. Well played to all other Top 3 competitors and thanks again to all the players who made it out over the weekend. Special shoutout to Jack Gorman and Co. for putting together the live stream and a special thank you to all the players who brought along equipment to ensure the tournament went as smooth as possible. Looking forward to seeing you all again at the next event. =) Over9K.Chris

A big thanks to all the players who came out to our first Street Fighter 5 and King of Fighters 14 Tournament last weekend. We had 8 players for KOF14 who duked it out in a 'First to 5, Winner Takes All' Round-Robin style tournament. After many, many, many games, ToXY emerged as the champion having not dropped a single set the entire way. With KOF14 being a new entry in the series, it is good to see more players picking it up and I look forward to seeing the game grow in the months to come. Onto Street Fighter 5, we had 14 players participate over the weekend including Dark Sided's very own ZG and Melbourne Fighting Game veteran Somniac who is currently sitting at the very top of the online Leaderboards for SF5. As such it was not surprising to see these 2 titans face off in the Grand Finals. While ZG, had the upper hand coming from the Winner's Bracket, Somniac was not to be deterred and clawed his way back to reset the bracket and ultimately take out the whole tournament in a nail-biting set going down to the last hit of the last round of the last game! Congratulations to Somniac for taking out the top spot and well play to ZG and Reepuplzorg for placing 2nd and 3rd respectiviely. KOF14 1st - ToXY SF4 1st - Somniac 2nd - DS_ZG 3rd - Reepuplzorg Tournament Bracket - http://challonge.com/o9ksf5011016 Special thanks to CouchWarriors for providing additional consoles for the event. Be sure to keep an eye out for their upcoming Ranking Battle to be held later this month. You can find all the latest info on Melbourne Fighting Game events on their Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/couchwarriors/. Lastly, special shoutout to Dark Sided's FGC Team Manager @DS_PyroZeroX for participating and providing tournament enhancing refreshments courtesy of Shine+. Looking forward to seeing you all again next month =) Over9K.Chris

A big thanks to all the players who came out to our first FIFA 17 Tournament last weekend. We had 17 players participate which is a pretty decent showing showing considering it was the AFL Grand Finals weekend and the game has just been released 3 days before. Congratulations to Karl for taking out the top spot and well played to Mark and Fish for placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Special mention to Mark, who despite losing his very first match, made a train wreck through the entire loser's bracket to make it all the way back into the Grand Finals. Unfortunately for him, Karl was just too strong on the day having not lost a single match the entire tournament. 1st - Karl - $200.00 2nd - Mark - $100.00 3rd - Fish - $40.00 Tournament Bracket - http://challonge.com/o9kfifa171021016 We'll be continuing to run monthly FIFA 17 Tournaments for the rest of the year, so it will be interesting to see the contenders at the next event once everyone has got some more practice in. Looking forward to seeing ya'll again at the next one. =) Over9K.Chris
