S.C.A.R is a Pro-Life charity that operates with the help of foster carers and volunteers to rescue and rehome dogs and cats that need a "second chance" We care for dogs and cats that need a second chance. All animals need to be surrendered to us officially by their owner/guardian. We can not take in strays but can help with advice if you have found a stray.
Our animals come from all walks of life. Some have had the good life but for unforeseen circumstances may end up with us needing a second chance forever family.
Many others have not had the pleasure of knowing what the good life is. Our aim is to connect the dots, do what needs to be done for these guys so eventually they will end up at their perfect forever home and never look back.

We need to do more... SCAR have always tried to have a fundamental approach to pet homeless in Victoria, rather than just the bandaid effect of rescuing and rehoming, as this cycle will unfortunately always continue. So the question was asked... what can SCAR do to keep animals with their loving owners and avoid them hitting the pounds in the first place? And this is where the Hume Outreach Pet Program (HOPP) was born. Earlier in the year we were lucky enough to win a $10,000 grant from the Hume City Council community grants project to kick start this ground-breaking initiative. Human-animal relationships are pivotal in society as they promote physical and psychological health in humans. However, less affluent members of our community often are either financially unable or unaware of how to provide the care necessary to provide a good home to a pet. This project will implement a ground-breaking approach to improve the welfare of companion animals and reduce animal euthanasia in Hume City by educating the community about responsible pet ownership and assisting underprivileged residents to care for their pets before they become sick or homeless. The HOPP project team have been working like busy little bees behind the scenes to bring this project to life so keep watching this space for regular HOPP updates!
