Congratulations to our August 2017 member of the month, Sarah Basaranowicz. Since joining on the 1st of April this year Sarah has lost an incredible 21 kilograms and counting! Returning to work after the birth of her little boy Michael, Sarah had decided it was time to make a change. Sarah makes time to get in 5 days a week regardless of the busy lifestyle she leads between caring for her child and working part-time. In fact, when she first started she was coming in 6 or 7 times a week! Sarah says she’s the busiest she’s ever been but the key is making the time. She’ll often wake up at 5am to get to the gym by 5:30am or waits for her little boy to fall asleep at night before coming in. Sarah comes in and trains with her friend Maree. Having Maree as a gym buddy has offered Sarah continuous motivation and support throughout her weight loss journey. Maree feels exactly the same way about Sarah and we love seeing how well the pair support each other. She also praises her Mum who takes care of Michael and her husband who wakes up to the baby when she is at the gym – particularly on a Saturday and Sunday morning when he could be sleeping in. Although Sarah prefers cardio she recommends including weight training into your fitness routine as she says its created shape in her body that she’s never had. Another big change Sarah has made is sitting down for dinner as a family at around 6pm. Sarah used to wait for her son to go to bed before she ate which wouldn’t be before 9pm. She also packs her lunch and her son’s lunch in the morning and changes her snacks up to keep her food interesting. Sarah says she has become a lot more cautious about portion sizes. She will still eat carbohydrates for dinner including rice and pasta but will only eat a one cup serving rather than a whole bowl. Sarah says once you implement a good habit into your life it happens without thinking. To help her stay on track with her newly developed lifestyle changes she makes sure she goes no longer than three days without breaking a healthy habit. She’s chosen three days as any longer it becomes too difficult to get back into the good habit. On September 30th, Sarah turns 30. Sarah says she’s excited that she’s going to turn 30 “in the best shape of her life”. She’s also looking forward to a healthy pregnancy the next time around. Congratulations Sarah! We are so proud of all your amazing efforts and you should be too! 👏🏼
