Grandma's House! Welcome to Milford Lodge. Family established, owned and operated since 1986, making us the first privately owned child care centre on the Sunshine Coast Milford Lodge is well and truly an iconic and renowned service.

Our beautiful 100 year old colonial Queenslander is set back from Gloucester Road, surrounded by an acre and a half of all natural spaces and gardens, as well as unique cottages and buildings which compliment the main homestead.

Over the past 30 years we have welcomed thousands of children and families into our home. A real home. A home where the smell of fresh baking stimulates the senses upon arrival. A home filled with real furniture and soft furnishings. A home where children are free to play and learn from one another. A home where adults share real life skills like gardening, sewing and cooking.
A home with spaces designed for play, work and relaxation. A home rich in history and stories. A home which feels warm, safe and secure.

We look forward to sharing our home with you.

I was just reading about the decline of Christmas Beetles on another fb page.I remember a few years ago a child at Milford explained to me why they were called Christmas Beetles when I was a little sceptical of the name and it fascinated me.I haven't seen any this season so far - maybe I will set the children a challenge today :) - (Nancy)

NAPLAN results show it is time to hand trust back to teachers

NAPLAN has become a subject at school. It is pencilled in to their weekly timetable. My own daughter reminded me that even though I wrote to the school stating that she would not be participating in NAPLAN, she sitll had to 'do NAPLAN' every Friday morning. Since when is NAPLAN a subject?!

It's that wonderful time of the year. I share this idea every year. Strawberry Santas. Easy for children to help make, healthy (well, comparatively with many other festive foods!) and delicious. Strawberries, whipped cream and writing gel. I add a little lemon into the cream. These are for last day if school parties for Fiona and Niamh

Milford Lodge

On this day in 2009 Milford Lodge hosted the inaugural Milford Lodge Community Market Day. It started when Mel had an assignment around sustainability and came up with the idea to have a market day for the children. Who would have known it would become such a massive annual event from that first day. Edit: Make that yesterday in 2009... Just looked up an old calendar. Must have posted the photos the day after :)

URBAN FOOD STREET

I must admit that I missed all of this until I ran into Duncan & Caroline at North Coffee this morning. I am appalled. Urban Food Street need a lot of support about now. Once upon a time we had our farmyard removed. Time to step up. And here is where I'll shamelessly quote Empire Records ... "Damn the man! Save the Empire!"
