Today our Toddlers 1 children did a great job with helping their educators to pack away all the toys they were playing with. They loved sitting on their clean and tidy mat after pack up time and joined in singing lots of different songs with Miss Claudia while Miss Dana set up for lunch. Hamish asked Miss Claudia to sing ‘5 cheeky monkeys’ and Steel asked to sing ‘Ba ba black sheep’. Beautiful singing Toddlers 1, well done.

We have observed many of our Junior Kindy children showing an interest in Dinosaurs recently so Miss Kerry and Miss Lauren decided to extend this interest today and set up a sand play activity at the table for the children to explore. Miss Kerry put a plastic volcano in the centre of the sand tray and small and large dinosaurs around it. Then with the children, made some red goop to put inside the volcano to create lava. The lava spilled over the sides of the volcano to create flowing lava. “Look Lava” exclaimed Johnny with excitement. The children loved using the dinosaurs to dip in the red goop to explore its consistency.

Week 1 of our 8 Week Family Fit Challenge started this morning at our Sapium Road centre and it was so good to see so many of our families come along with their children in tow for a morning workout! Mr Sam, our personal trainer from the Healthy Lifestyle Club took everyone through an awesome session, with many of the children also joining in the fun! For those who could stay afterwards, nutritionalist and naturopath Miss Meah, showed us how to make a green smoothie and incorporate healthy nutrition into our daily diet. This is the first of the 8 week workshops that will start straight after each exercise session. We hope those that made it along this morning enjoyed the start to their day – it certainly was a beautiful morning to be up early and working up a sweat! It’s not too late to join our Family Fit Challenge – just pop your name on the register at the office and we look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.

With summer officially here, we are excited by the beautiful fresh ingredients in our new Organic Summer Menu 1. The children are being so spoilt with the delicious morning and afternoon teas they will enjoy this month: Peach, pear & yoghurt cups with crunchy granola; Zucchini chocoholic brownie bars; Seasonal fresh fruit kebabs and strawberry jelly; Summer pineapple & coconut bites; Organic raisin toast; Pumpkincredible hummus with homemade pita crisps; Homemade popcorn; Organic raw choc Amazeballs; Frozen banana rockets dipped in raw honey, coconut & cacao; Amazing organic carrot cake. All morning and afternoon teas either contain fresh seasonal fruit as their main ingredient or are served with a selection of fresh fruit slices to make the most of the wonderful produce on offer. Our yummy lunches this month include: Middle Eastern chicken koftas with vegie rice; Very Mexi super spud filled with Mexican bean and veggie sauce; Ahoy There tuna, avocado and vegie grills; Organic Vietnamese rice paper rolls; Nutritious beef, lentil and spinach bolognese. All lunches are served with our famous Salad Bar which contains a variety of salad items including diced, shredded and grated fresh fruits and vegetables. The children love to choose their own salad items, often returning for second and third helpings of their favourites. They are very proud of themselves when they choose their own and the self serve option encourages the children to explore new tastes and textures and choose to eat what they love! As always, all Kindy Kitchen meals are designed utilising a huge variety of seasonal and sustainably farmed fresh fruits, vegetables and proteins and provide healthy nutrients for growing little minds and bodies, along with helping to teach the children about the importance of healthy eating. Our Pre Kindy children absolutely loved the Very Mexi Super Spud they enjoyed for lunch today.

To celebrate Grandparents' Day, lots of our classrooms held special events for the children to share their kindy experience with their grandparents. It was wonderful to meet everyone who came along to our morning and afternoon tea events - we know the children are so excited when their special family members visit the centre and join in the fun activities. Here are some photos from our Toddlers and Junior Kindy Grandparents' Afternoon Tea last Friday.
