Two mates from Albury decided to start a festival.
9th Dec 2017 @ Willowbank, Albury, NSW.
Midday to midnight, 14 acts, locals to internationals. Two mates from Albury were on the long road home from a folk festival and thought "Hang on, why doesn't Albury have one of these?" They couldn't think of a reasonable answer, so they started one.

By The Banks Music Festival is Albury/Wodonga's inaugural Indie-Folk inspired independent Music Festival, promoting the live performances of local, interstate and international artists, the collaboration of creative arts, and the services of local people and businesses.

Held on the banks of the Murray River, the not-for-personal profit Festival is run by a team of Alburians for the benefit and entertainment of the wider Albury/Wodonga area, to continue to promote the growing support around live music in the area. It is an all-ages, all-access, cross-cultural event. By The Banks will be an opportunity for the community to support the local and wider creative arts industry, and celebrate the work of various local businesses. Food, water and alcohol will be available at the event.

*A late By The Banks ARTIST FEATURE* With adversity comes opportunity, and we have taken the opportunity to add Grim Fawkner to our incredible lineup! Rambling man Grim Fawkner is no stranger to stages and streets across the globe and at home. The epitome of the itinerant musician, he draws together tales and musings from his travels and is as likely to deliver them in soft ballad form as he is face-meltingly intricate and upbeat roots/country/blues. Recent nods to his skills as a songwriter and a performer include being voted "Melbourne's Best Busker" by The Herald Sun & popular vote, and being chosen to open for Once the Musical with a few of his own numbers. Catch Grim... TOMORROW! Seriously though, in one day! Wowzer! https://youtu.be/p4LOSBTqTm0

So happy to see our poster next to the front door of one of our favourite businesses in Albury! From the start of our creative pursuits, Blackline Music have been massive supporters; from starting off a local band, to creating a massive live music event. We're stoked to have Blackline on board as a major sponsor, and suppliers of our backline for By The Banks Music Festival 2017 . Thanks to them, and you all, for your support so far! Bring on Saturday! www.trybooking.com/ptpb

During our first day on site today, unfortunately we were hit with some tough news. Our good friend, and By The Banks Music Festival 2017 perfomer, Adam McGrath, has had a car accident while travelling on his Australian tour. While Adam has escaped serious injury, he has had to return back to New Zealand, and unfortunately won't be able to grace us with his beauty this Saturday. Thus we have had to organise another act for Saturday, we have invited Adam to perform By The Banks 2018. We have this message from Adam: "I feel shit about this and I'll make it up to everyone. This is a reminder for musicians who exist on the road to be careful rolling on too many late nights and early mornings: sleeping and driving works about as well as drinking and driving!" Adam is a workhorse, road-tested muso: the exact type we want to support. See you at By The Banks 2018 mate!

Before the artists, the food vendors, the posters, the alcohol, the website, the Facebook page, and even the name, there was a meeting with Hume Bank. Back in February we took our idea to Hume and asked for their help. A festival cannot get off the ground without a little bit of backing early on. We pitched our simple idea, and they believed in us, coming on board as our first major sponsor. This festival could not have happened without their support and belief early on. And our front desk wouldn't be shaded without their gazebo. So thank you, to them, and to everyone, for believing in By The Banks. 3 days to go. Beautiful day to start setting up! Stay posted. Back on November 8, Harrison S Media joined James Eggleston, Laura Roberts, Jack Wilby and Jack Nicholas at By The Banks HQ (Jacka's shed) to have a chat and see what we were working on. Two weekends ago he also went down for a site visit at Willowbank with James and Laura. Here's some of what he caught on film. See it come together this Saturday December 9!
